Currently based in Brooklyn New York, Carissa was born in California and received her BFA from San Francisco State University. Diaz has tailored her professional career to support art spaces that collaborate and foster fine artists, including Bay Area visual arts non-profit Root Division. Her painting practice was conceived as a form of self care in hopes of transferring the restorative positivity to the viewer, through attention to the impact of color and shape on mood and well-being.
With her first love of visual art being photography, Diaz produced, styled and photographed creative fashion photoshoots as a teen. With years of painting experience under her belt, she developed a strong foundation in color theory, composition, and learned to pay thoughtful attention to light. Diaz masterfully translates her visual arts skills into creating show-stopping images for events, portraits, food and beverage photography and has been featured in publications such as Food52 and The New York Times.
